Tropical rainstorm to bring rain to the Southeast coast

There remains a high chance of development from June 22-23 in the Gulf of Mexico in the footsteps of Alberto. This feature will need to be watched for possible impacts on the Gulf Coast of the

United States and Mexico this weekend into early next week.

Outside the Gulf of Mexico, a tropical rainstorm currently several hundred miles off Florida's east coast is expected to move quickly west-northwestward toward the southeastern coast of the United

States Friday. As it moves through a low shear environment, it's not out of the question that this rainstorm could become a tropical depression before making landfall Friday afternoon. Regardless of

exact designation, the storm is expected to bring some risk of wind and rain to portions of the Southeast coast.
